Hermitage PA PD uses Flock Safety technology to capture objective evidence without compromising on individual privacy. Hermitage PA PD utilizes retroactive search to solve crimes after they've occurred. Additionally, Hermitage Police Department utilizes real time alerting of hotlist vehicles to help capture wanted criminals, stolen vehicles and locate Amber Alert vehicles/ locate other missing persons. In an effort to ensure proper usage and guardrails are in place, they have made the below policies and usage statistics available to the public.
Policies
What's Detected
License Plates, Vehicles in plain view on public roadways.
What's Not Detected
Facial recognition, People, Gender, Race, and Sound.
The system does not provide any personal data including, name(s), address(es), date(s) of birth, drivers license, social security or phone numbers.
Acceptable Use Policy
Data is used for law enforcement purposes only. Data is owned by Hermitage PA PD, held in secure storage, is never sold to 3rd parties and is completely deleted after 30 days
Prohibited Uses
Immigration enforcement, traffic enforcement, harrassment or intimidation, usage based solely on a protected class (i.e. race, sex, religion), Personal use.
Access Policy
All approved users must undergo department approved training. System access is protected with a secure login.
All system queries require a valid documented law enforcement related reason, which is stored indefinitely and are regularly audited by System Managers.
Hotlist Policy
Hotlist hits are required to be human verified prior to action.
