Recent Success Story
1. In October, 2021 a man approached a resident and asked to borrow a shovel. While the resident was getting the shovel, the man entered the home and stole the residents wallet and cell phone. The man then got into a black four-door car and left the area without the shovel. Later, the man discovered the missing phone and wallet and reported the theft to Minerva Park Police. Using the Flock camera system, officers were able to search for a black car near the time of the incident. They were able to identify a vehicle and through the owner of the vehicle, a suspect. The suspect was arrested for Burglary and Theft. The residents property was returned. 2. In the summer of 2022, a series of mail thefts occurred in the village. After a few incidents, a residents security video captured a description of an older model pickup truck with distinctive stickers on the rear of the truck cap. Searching through Flock cameras and extending the search to neighboring departments Flock cameras, Minerva Park Police were able to identify the truck and get a plate number. The vehicle owner no longer lived at the address registered to the vehicle, but an officer spotted the suspect vehicle a few days later in the village. The suspect vehicle was stopped and stolen mail was discovered in the vehicle. Both the vehicle owner and a passenger were charged with several counts of mail theft. 3. In July of 2024 a vehicle pulled into the lot of the middle school and using airsoft type weapons fired projectiles into a group of students attending summer school. Flock was used to find the vehicle entering the village and a license plate was obtained. A search of the license plate revealed the suspects had spray painted the vehicle a different color within hours of the incident. The vehicle was located and several juvenile suspects were charged and referred to Juvenile Court.
