Overview
The Worthington Division of Police utilizes fixed Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) Technology to capture objective evidence without compromising individual privacy. We use this technology to retroactively search for suspect vehicles when criminal reports are filed. Additionally, we use real time alerts for stolen vehicles, AMBER alerts, and missing persons. Permissions to access this data is strictly controlled and only for legitimate law enforcement purposes only.

Acceptable Use Policy
The use of he ALPR system and associated data is restricted to criminal justice purposes only.
Prohibited Uses
The ALPR system and associated data shall not be used to harass or intimidate any individual or group, immigration enforcement, traffic enforcement, solely based on an individuals characteristics or classification protected by law, or any use outside of legitimate criminal justice purposes.
Access Control
System access is controlled at a user level and is not accessible to those outside of the Division. Any request for associated data is vetted by Division supervisors. Access is logged and audited per policy.
Real Time Alerts
An alert from the ALPR system does not provide probable cause to stop a vehicle solely on the presence of the alert. Additional verification must be obtained for an officer to act on an alert.
